Are You Claiming Yours in 2017?

Alex Sheen is the founder of because I said I would, the international social movement and nonprofit dedicated to the betterment of humanity through promises made and kept. Sparked by the loss of his father, Alex began sending promise cards to anyone who requested them at no cost. Since his father’s passing on September 4th, 2012, because I said I would has sent over 4.47M promise cards to over 150 countries. Alex’s commitment to the betterment of humanity has inspired millions around the world. His message is simple—he encourages people to make a promise and then keep that promise.

“You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.” – Joshua 23:14

There are over 3,500 promises in the Bible and not one has failed— amazing! Yet how many do I claim for hope, trust, and encouragement as my own?

  • Grace- For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. | Ephesians 2:8-9
  • Encouragement- Therefore encourage one another and build each other up | 1 Thess 5:11
  • Best Plans- “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. | Jer 29:11
  • Forgiveness- In whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. | Colossians 1:14
  • Worry- Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life. | Philippians 4:6-7
  • Trustworthy- God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? | Numbers 23:19
  • Loneliness- Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. | Hebrews 13:5
  • Purpose- Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. | Jeremiah 1:5
  • Unchanging- Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.| Hebrews 13:8
  • Faithful- God always does what he says, and is gracious in everything he does. | Psalms 145:13

As we head into 2017, one of the best ways to deepen intimacy and grow your personal relationship with the King of Kings is to own one of God’s promises for your business, your family and yourself.  Will you claim a Biblical promise as your theme heading into the new year? My theme for this new year is trusting He has my best in mind (Jer 29:11). With that belief, I want to trust Him when I can’t see Him working on my behalf; I want to turn over control of relationships, finances, etc allowing Him to guide them; I want Him to use prosperity & adversity to shape me into His likeness even when it seems like He is distant. This is the year– all in!
